Q&A: Separating a Twitch Account from Justin.tv

I have a Twitch account, and I want to broadcast games (specifically, League of Legends), but I can’t figure how to not stream on Justin.tv. Do I need to make a new Twitch account or what? — masteroflol

This is an excellent question concerning a recent change we’ve made to the relationship between Twitch and our sister site, Justin.tv. We’ve prepared an article about this in our Knowledge Base that bests explains the situation.

Twitch.tv and Justin.tv are now separate sites, thus the account you may have used in the past to traverse both sites is now dedicated to one site. You will not be able to switch between sites, thus you must have separate accounts to continue using Twitch.tv and Justin.tv, respectively.

As a one-time courtesy, Twitch Customer Support can switch you from Justin.tv to Twitch.tv if you submit a support request here.

We will offer this service until Jan 31, 2013. Starting February 1, 2013, you will need to create a new account on Twitch.tv to continue using the service.
