Announcing Twitch for Android V3.0
Hey everybody, ProgramMax here! I’m the primary developer on the Twitch for Android™.
It’s an exciting time to be an Android user because today marks the release of version 3.0 of Twitch for Android!
You’ll immediately notice that the app has changed a lot, visually. Our design team created a new, modern interface that looks fantastic. I think they did an amazing job. If you have a tablet, you’ll also see that there have been numerous optimizations to make using the app much more enjoyable.
As you explore the app, you’ll see a new addition: user profiles. Profiles let you find out more about any Twitch channel, whether it’s live or offline. From a profile, you can follow a channel or even chat with others if the broadcaster isn’t live yet. This is a great way to hang out with friends from a channel and stay connected.
This also opens up another new possibility: access to offline channels you follow. When you look at your followed directory (located in the new left nav), you’ll see both live channels as well as offline channels so you can keep up with your favorite broadcasters at all times.
We’ve been listening to your feed back. One of the most requested features was to improve our search. We’ve made some refinements that I think you will really like. You can now swipe left and right between channels, people, and games. Searching for a user who is offline? Just go to the “People” tab.
We want to give users an amazing viewing experience on mobile. Thanks to our beta testers and all the hard working people at Twitch, I believe we’ve done that.
