ESL and Twitch Announce Partnership Extension, Plus Cool Infographic
Today we’re proud to announce that we’ve signed a multi-year, extensive partnership agreement with ESL, the world’s biggest independent esports brand. Twitch will be the exclusive streaming partner for ESL One Frankfurt 2014, the biggest European Dota 2 event. ESL One Frankfurt will be held at the Commerzbank-Arena in Frankfurt, Germany. That’s right, a World Cup stadium.
Our partnership with ESL has been hugely successful for both of us. ESL recently closed their most successful Intel Extreme Masters (IEM) season to date, shattering all viewership records via Twitch. The agreement includes content and marketing collaboration worldwide, including Twitch being the exclusive Western world broadcaster for all ESL events. ESL will also use Twitch to air the ninth season of Intel Extreme Masters, events from gamescom 2014, ESL One Frankfurt 2014, and in ESL’s studios in Europe and North America.
We have worked with ESL since 2011. Since that time, enthusiasts from over 180 countries have tuned in to watch ESL’s content on Twitch. Twitch recorded a peak of over 280,000 concurrent viewers on a single stream during IEM Cologne in 2013. This was broken only a few months later during the IEM Katowice 2014, when the concurrent viewership in the Western world peaked at 643,000 across all games at the event.
