Put Your Hands Together and Claptrap for ‘The Art of the Game’
If they gave frequent flyer miles for playing a game, I could fly to Pandora and back for the amount of time I spent playing Borderlands, its sequel and the (seemingly) hundreds of DLC releases. Needless to say, anything Borderlands-related, I go all Psycho, especially when it’s happening on Twitch. Which leads me to ‘The Art of the Game’.
On May 8th at 1:00pm PT (and again at 6:00pm PT), 2K will premiere ‘The Art of the Game’ on Machinima’s Twitch channel. According to 2K’s press release, this film “documents a cultural shift in the entertainment people enjoy by following a group of students at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, as they compete for a job in the increasingly influential video game industry. Through a series of interwoven stories, the film explores the passion, creativity, and change taking place in interactive entertainment, and its often misunderstood artistic culture.”
So what does this have to do with Borderlands? The students in the film are competing for an internship at 2K by creating computer-generated short films set in Pandora, the fictional Borderlands universe. Read more about the short films here.
