Twitch App 2.0 Brings Chat to Android
We’re kicking off a week of awesome product news with the long awaited 2.0 update of the Twitch App for Android. Why is it so hotly anticipated, you ask? Oh, you didn’t? Huh.. Well.. This is awkward. Seeing as how I didn’t really have a back-up plan for this blog I’m just going to go ahead and tell you anyway.
The Twitch App for Android 2.0 brings the full chat experience to your mobile device.
Wow, isn’t that exciting? It just feels good to say it. So good in fact that I’m going to do it again: the Twitch App for Android 2.0 features the full chat experience. There is now nothing stopping you from participating in the running commentary of our community no matter where you are in the world. The technology truly is astounding.
Speaking of technology, the long march of this omnipresent force continues, and this update is no exception as our app now requires that you possess an Android 4.0 device or later. If you do not own an Android 4.0 device or later, you will unfortunately be unable to to download this latest version. This was necessary because, and we’re just going to be honest with you, the Twitch experience on these older devices was not good and supporting them was holding back development of the app. See? Now don’t you feel guilty? When we feel the twinge of guilt our coping mechanism is to pass on this sinking feeling in the form of shame. Go and find your older Android device and proceed to shame it. Place a sticky note upon this device proclaiming its increasing inadequacy and submit it to the appropriate tumblr blog or sub-reddit.
The Twitch App 2.0 for Android is now available from the Google Play store. Stay tuned all this week for more exciting product announcements and existential crisis’ from your friends here at Twitch!
