iOS Update: More Channels, Dota 2 Item Drops
The Twitch Mobile App for iOS v2.3.5 is now available in the iTunes App Store, and it brings a host of improvements, including the ability to gain Dota 2 item drops.
First and foremost, we’ve greatly increased the number of live channels available on the mobile apps from the top 200 channels, to more than 750 at any given moment. This is an improvement made across all our mobile apps, including Xbox. That number will continue to increase as we improve our HLS capacity on a global level.
Chat has also received a makeover, both on the surface and under the hood. It sports a new, cleaner look, support for emoticons, and is overall more efficient and more stable.
For our partners, pre-roll advertisements will be made possible in this version of the app and you will benefit from them the same way you always have. We’re also pleased to report that mobile video ads on iOS respect Turbo and paid Subscribers, so viewers will be able to receive those ad-free benefits on the go.
Finally, the Twitch Mobile App for iOS now allows viewers who have connected their Steam accounts to Twitch to earn Dota 2 item drops while viewing eligible mobile streams. This update comes just in time, as The International Dota 2 Championships enters its finals weekend.
Thanks again for sticking with us as we continue to update and improve upon our existing mobile apps. We’ve made some fantastic progress over the past few months and we’re looking forward to even better updates in the future.
