8bitSF Begins Monthly Concert Series on Twitch
We’ll be the first to admit, we’re pretty spoiled here in San Francisco. Any type of cuisine you could possibly imagine, roughly 28 excuses per year to wear costumes in public, and now, a monthly venue to enjoy the smooth sounds of video game inspired music. Tonight, the San Francisco chiptune collective, 8BitSF, kicks off their monthly concert series and you can watch it tonight on Twitch.
WHERE: http://twitch.tv/weekingeek WHEN: Thursday, April 11, 9PM PST INFO: http://www.8bitsf.com/2013/04/trash80-extent-of-jam-tristendo-cartoon.html
If you’re new to the world of chiptunes, these names may not be immediately recognizable. But give them a listen and allow your mind to be blown away by the 8-bit awesomeness. Performing tonight:
TRASH80 ([[[Listen](http://tristendo.bandcamp.com/)](http://soundcloud.com/extentofthejam/)](http://trash80.com/#/music)) — A venerable legend of the chiptune scene, TRASH80 is a pioneer of Game Boy music. Extent of the Jam (Listen) — Self described as hyperactive videogamic funk grooves. Seems legit. TristEndo (Listen) — Nintendo inspired 8-bit anthems. I fully expect there to be bouncing. Cartoon Violence (Listen) — Nerd rock from another dimension, courtesy of Doctor Octave and Professor Robot
Tonight’s show is the culmination of years of work on the part of 8BitSF and it’s lead organizer, Morgan Tucker, who’s been organizing kick-ass shows here in the city, and fronts one of its most exciting acts, Crashfaster. He’s also had to deal with my constant harassment over the years to broadcast these shows to Twitch, even before I worked here. Thankfully, Blake Morse of Week in Geek has stepped up to the plate and will be providing the broadcast production.
If you’re a local, come on down to DNA Lounge tonight and rock out with us. For everyone else, we hope that you tune in and enjoy what is a very unique, and very awesome part of San Francisco gaming culture.
