Rockage 2.0 Mixes Live Speedruns with Rock & Roll
Rockage 2.0, the annual indie-music and retro gaming festival, will be live on Twitch this weekend, and their headlining act, Bit Brigade, combines the intense world of speedrunning with pure rock and roll bombast.

What sets Bit Brigade apart from their gaming cover band contemporaries such as The Megas, or fellow Rockage act, The Minibosses, is their self-proclaimed master gamer, Noah McCarthy. An expert at Mega Man 2, Castlevania and Ninja Gaiden to name a few, Noah shreds his way through one of these gaming classics on stage, while Bit Brigade backs him up with a full band, supplying a hard rock soundtrack for each background track, cut-scene, boss battle and everything in between.
There’s been a lot of talk recently about whether or not speedruns can exist on the big stage, but Bit Brigade has long been ahead of that curve.
They’re not the only gaming influenced act performing at Rockage, as you’ll also be treated to The Minibosses, Cartoon Violence and Mega Ran, as well as the chiptune powered Matthew Joseph Payne, Slime Girls and San Francisco favorite, Crashfaster.
It’s an incredible line-up and one that’s quite rare for the West Coast. If you’re anywhere near San Jose, do yourself a favor and check out Rockage 2.0. For everyone else, please tune in this weekend to get a glimpse of an important piece of gaming culture that, we feel, rarely gets the attention it deserves.
