Update #3 — Channel Page Beta
Twitch Broadcasters —
We have an update on our new channel page beta, just in time for the holidays. The channel page beta has been available for a little over a month now and the feedback we’ve received with each new addition and alteration continues to reshape and expand its development. Thank you to everyone who emailed, tweeted, and generally chatted us up about your feelings concerning this bold, new direction of Twitch. We greatly appreciate it and we hope you begin to see your words in action.
In our previous update, we explained how that very feedback is having direct influence over our current development, particularly in regard to customization and donation options. Today, we’re making good on our word, as well as openly welcoming the greater Twitch community to see these new channel pages for themselves.
ChipIn Donation Panel One of the most widely requested features for our new panel system, especially from our popular charity broadcasters, was a ChipIn widget to facilitate online donations. We intend for this implementation to be as pain-free as possible, with no additional code to fuss over. Try it out, let us know what you think and if you need any assistance we’ve prepared a knowledge base article.
Background Image Test Broadcasters have demanded an increased sense of customization and individuality, and we’re currently preparing a solution for those who requested a return of background images. To that end, you may again add a background image to your channel. You can find this option directly on your channel page, directly beneath your title and game settings. We’ll be listening intently to your feedback and offering different solutions and options throughout the beta.
Viewer Beta Opt-In Beginning today, all Twitch viewers will receive a notification, inviting them to begin browsing Twitch with the new channel pages. While there is still no definitive timeline on when we’ll be switching the site over to the new layout, it’s vital at this stage that we invite all Twitch users to see the design for themselves and gather their feedback. Viewers will also be given the option to opt back out and return to the original channel pages whenever they please.
Our goal at Twitch is to create the best video platform for broadcasters, for viewers, and especially for gamers. Again, we thank you all for your feedback and we’re anticipating yet another mountain of exciting feedback to dig through as we continue the beta process.
Sincerely, The Twitch Team
